In the studio, my intention, if one can call it that, is to cultivate looseness of purpose and allow uncertainty. To connect to the canvas in a non-verbal ‘conversation’; encounter newness and not control what it can be; discern and follow the paths that suggest themselves in marks and colour. I go with, instead of reacting—you might call it play.
